I started watching The Penguin with low expectations. At the end of the first episode I thought "It can't be this good; it must be me." I watched each subsequent episode waiting for it to go bad. It didn't. When I got to the last episode I thought "Okay here's where I'll be disappointed." Far from it.
I thought it was a fantastic series. Some of the lines seemed ripped right out of an old noir -- "I'll see you in hell/I'll save you a seat," etc. I was hoping they'd keep it relatively grounded throughout and they didn't disappoint.
Am I really going to watch a Batman spinoff thanks to Vince Keenan????

I was genuinely not prepared for how good this show is.

This show proves a television show can be excellent, if the whole team behind it wants it. A great show…
