Coming very late to this, but I just visited Oberlin with my kid and found out that when Danny DeVito’s son went there, DeVito donated a bunch of money to save the local movie theater AND fund a school of cinema studies. That’s commitment to film.
MATILDA rocks. Just ask my daughter, who took it to her heart as a child.
A kid's movie? At its core, it may be the most defiantly political of DeVito's films. And in a world now bearing witness to the rise of the Trunchbulls, with everything from education to common sense under attack, perhaps essential viewing.
Rebellion and resistance have never seemed more crucial. Or, in this film, more joyous.

I love Throw Momma so much. I can’t hear the word “sultry” without thinking of that movie.
